Lottery Odds

Exact odds of every prize tier in Mega-Sena, Quina and Lotofácil for each bet size, with Caixa's current prices.

Lotteries are games of chance: no number, pattern or system improves your odds. Play only if you are 18 or older, set a budget, never bet money you need, and seek help (for example Jogadores Anônimos or a health professional) if gambling stops being fun.

Frequently asked questions

Does a bet with more numbers improve my odds?

Yes, in exact proportion to its price. A 7-number Mega-Sena bet contains 7 simple bets of 6 numbers and costs 7 times the simple bet, so the jackpot odds go from 1 in 50,063,860 to 1 in 7,151,980. The price per simple bet does not change, so no bet size is a better deal than another.

Are the Mega da Virada odds different?

No. The Mega da Virada uses the same 60 numbers and the same 6-number draw as a regular Mega-Sena contest, so every bet size has the same odds. Only the prize is larger, because the main prize does not roll over and it receives amounts reserved during the whole year.

Can lucky numbers or statistics raise my chances?

No. Every combination has exactly the same chance in every draw. Past results, overdue numbers, birthdays or patterns on the ticket do not change the next draw; they only change how many people may share the prize if those numbers come up.

Why can a value differ by 1 from Caixa's table?

This page rounds every value to the nearest whole number (one decimal below 10). Caixa's published table truncates a few cells instead: for Quina with 5 numbers and 4 hits the exact value is 64,106.7, shown here as 1 in 64,107 and by Caixa as 1 in 64,106.

How the lottery odds are calculated

This page shows the exact odds of every prize tier of Mega-Sena, Quina and Lotofácil for each bet size Caixa sells: 6 to 20 numbers in Mega-Sena, 5 to 15 in Quina and 15 to 20 in Lotofácil. For every size it also shows how many simple bets the ticket contains and what it costs. It is meant for players in Brazil who want to know the real chances before betting, including those who play the Mega da Virada at the end of the year.

The method is hypergeometric counting. The number of possible draws is C(60,6) = 50,063,860 in Mega-Sena, C(80,5) = 24,040,016 in Quina and C(25,15) = 3,268,760 in Lotofácil. The draws in which exactly k of your n numbers come up number C(n,k) x C(N-n, b-k), where N is the size of the number pool and b the balls drawn. The odds are the possible draws divided by the winning draws. The price is the simple-bet price (R$ 6.00, R$ 3.00 and R$ 3.50 in Caixa's table since July 2025) times C(n, b).

Example: a Mega-Sena bet with 7 numbers contains C(7,6) = 7 simple bets, so it costs 7 x R$ 6.00 = R$ 42.00. The sena can be won in 7 draws, which is 50,063,860 / 7 = 1 in 7,151,980. For the quina there are C(7,5) x C(53,1) = 21 x 53 = 1,113 winning draws, or 1 in 44,981, and for the quadra C(7,4) x C(53,2) = 35 x 1,378 = 48,230 winning draws, or 1 in 1,038. Limitations: the odds are per draw, the values are rounded as explained in the note, no strategy changes them, and you should always play responsibly.
