Frequently asked questions

Do part-time workers get weekly holiday pay?

Yes, when their scheduled hours average 15 or more a week over 4 weeks and they work every scheduled day of the week.

How much is it?

One day of pay for full-time workers (8 hours). Part-time workers get weekly hours ÷ 40 × 8 hours at their hourly wage.

Is weekly holiday pay part of the minimum wage check?

The hourly wage itself must reach the minimum wage; the weekly holiday hours are paid on top, which is why a 40-hour month counts 209 paid hours.

How the South Korean weekly holiday pay is calculated

The weekly holiday allowance (주휴수당) is the paid day off that South Korean law grants to employees who work enough scheduled hours, and it matters most to part-time and hourly workers. Enter your hourly wage, the scheduled hours per week, the minimum wage year and two conditions of the week: whether you worked every scheduled day and whether your employment continues into the next week. The calculator shows whether you are entitled, the paid holiday hours, the allowance, your total weekly pay, a monthly pay estimate and a check against the minimum wage of the chosen year.

Article 55 of the Labor Standards Act (근로기준법) guarantees at least one paid holiday a week. Article 30 of the Enforcement Decree requires that the worker attended every scheduled day of the week, and article 18(3) excludes workers whose scheduled hours average under 15 a week. The allowance is the lower of the weekly hours and 40, divided by 40, times 8 hours, times the hourly wage. Monthly paid hours are the weekly hours plus holiday hours, times 365 divided by 84, rounded. The minimum wage is ₩ 10,320 an hour in 2026 and ₩ 10,700 in 2027 (Ministry of Employment and Labor notice of 5 August 2026).

Example: a worker paid ₩ 10,320 an hour who is scheduled for 20 hours a week and attends every day is entitled to 4 holiday hours (20 ÷ 40 × 8). The allowance is ₩ 41,280, the total weekly pay is ₩ 247,680, and the month counts 104 paid hours, about ₩ 1,073,280. Limitations: only scheduled hours are used, so overtime, night and holiday premiums are not included, and the result is an estimate for guidance. Workplaces with fewer than 5 employees still owe the weekly holiday pay.
