FGTS

Project your FGTS balance with monthly deposits and 3% yearly interest, then see the dismissal fines, the 80% withdrawal in a mutual agreement and the saque-aniversario amount.

These calculations follow Brazilian labor and tax law (CLT, INSS, IRRF, FGTS) and are valid only for employment contracts in Brazil. Amounts are in Brazilian reais (R$).

Legislation and tables in force on 10/17/2026: 2026 minimum wage, 2026 INSS and IRRF tables and the income tax reduction of Lei 15.270/2025.

This is an estimate for guidance. Collective agreements and individual situations may change the amounts; it does not replace the payslip or advice from an accountant or lawyer.

Good to know

  • The projection assumes TR = 0 and does not include the annual distribution of the fund profit, so the real balance can be slightly higher.
  • The fine is computed on all deposits of the contract, with interest, and earlier withdrawals are not deducted. Here it is applied to the projected balance.
  • Anyone enrolled in saque-aniversario cannot withdraw the balance when dismissed, but still receives the 40% or 20% fine.
  • Going back to the dismissal withdrawal (saque-rescisão) takes effect only after 25 months.

How the FGTS projection works

The employer deposits FGTS in the account of the worker every month, by the 20th, on the pay of the previous month: 8% for regular employees, 2% for apprentices and 8% plus 3.2% (a separate compensation balance) for domestic employees. The 13th salary and the notice period are part of the base, so December brings a second deposit. Enter the gross salary, the balance you already have, the number of months to project and the type of contract. The calculator deposits the rate over the salary every month and, with the 13th option on, one more deposit in each December. For a salary of R$ 3,000.00 the regular deposit is R$ 240.00 a month, or R$ 3,120.00 over twelve months with the 13th.

The balance earns 3% a year plus the TR (Taxa Referencial), credited every month. The TR has been at zero for years, so this tool assumes zero. The yearly rate is turned into a monthly one with the twelfth root of 1.03, about 0.2466% a month, and each month the balance is multiplied by that factor before the new deposit is added. Values are rounded to the cent every month. The fund also shares part of its yearly profit with the accounts (distribuição de resultados), which depends on a yearly decision and is not included, so the real balance may be a little higher. Example: R$ 10,000.00 left untouched for a year grows to about R$ 10,300.00.

When the employer dismisses without just cause, it pays a fine of 40% on all deposits made during the contract, with interest, and the worker can withdraw the whole balance. In a mutual agreement (CLT, art. 484-A) the fine is 20% and up to 80% of the balance can be withdrawn. The same 20% applies to reciprocal fault and force majeure. Earlier withdrawals do not reduce the base of the fine. The calculator applies these percentages to the projected final balance: a balance of R$ 20,000.00 gives a fine of R$ 8,000.00 (40%), R$ 4,000.00 (20%) and an agreement withdrawal of R$ 16,000.00. Domestic employees have no 40% fine; they receive the 3.2% balance instead.

Saque-aniversario lets you withdraw part of the balance every year, in your birthday month, instead of the whole balance when you are dismissed. The amount is the balance times a rate plus a fixed additional amount, according to seven brackets, shown in the table above. Example: a balance of R$ 3,000.00 is in the bracket from R$ 1,000.01 to R$ 5,000.00 (30% plus R$ 150.00), so you withdraw R$ 900.00 + R$ 150.00 = R$ 1,050.00. The trade-off: while enrolled, you cannot withdraw the balance when dismissed, although the fine is still paid to you, and going back to the dismissal withdrawal takes effect only after 25 months. The page shows the amount for your current balance and for the projected one.

Legal basis: Lei 8.036/1990, arts. 13 (remuneration of the accounts), 15 (deposits), 18 (fines), 20 (withdrawal cases) and 20-A to 20-D (saque-aniversario, Lei 13.932/2019, with the table in the Annex); Decreto 99.684/1990; LC 150/2015, arts. 22 and 34, for domestic employees; and CLT, art. 484-A, for the mutual agreement. This is an estimate: the real balance depends on the TR, on the profit distribution, on the dates of the deposits, on the withdrawals already made and on the actual pay base, which may include overtime and other items besides the salary.
